If You Want To Visit Mtv's Beach House, It's In Malibu
Q: I am going to Los Angeles this summer and, if possible, I would like to know where the MTV beach house is.
A: The beach house, MTV's summer headquarters for broadcasting, beach parties and celebrity drop-ins, is in Malibu again this year. The MTV VJs are hosting shows from the beach house daily through Labor Day, but visits are by invitation only. Q: I am a big fan of "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson Lee. I was going to check out her new movie "Barb Wire," but found it was not showing at any movie theaters. This movie only came out about a month ago. What happened?
A: The "Baywatch" beauty's action-adventure movie debut bombed at the box office. Look for "Barb Wire" to be making an appearance soon at video stores. Meanwhile, Pamela and husband Tommy Lee of Motley Crue are busy with their new baby. Brandon Thomas Lee, named after the late actor Brandon Lee, was born June 5.
Q: I've seen most of the (episodes of the) 1980s "Mission: Impossible" series, but was too young for the original. Are there any plans for it to air on TV since the movie starring Tom Cruise is out?
A: Cable's fX shows the original "Mission: Impossible" episodes (1966-73) daily at 6 and 9 p.m.
Q: I would like to know if Richard Dean Anderson is planning a series on TV. Where could I write to him? My 3-year-old grandson thinks he is great.
A: The former "MacGyver" star will appear in "Pandora's Clock," a new miniseries for NBC this fall. He joins an ensemble cast that includes Stephen Root ("NewsRadio"), Jane Leeves ("Frasier") and Daphne Zuniga ("Melrose Place") in the airplane thriller.
Q: What was the name of the TV movie starring Jane Fonda as a poor woodcarver? Will it ever by repeated, or is it on video?
A: Jane Fonda won an Emmy for her 1984 TV movie debut in "The Dollmaker." She played a Kentucky woman whose talent for carving dolls gets her family through some hard times when they move to the big city. "The Dollmaker" is repeated occasionally on television and is also available on video.
Q: I am writing about the television show "JAG." I think it is an excellent show and would like to know what the letters stand for. Also, will it be back in the fall?
A: "JAG" is the acronym for Judge Advocate General's Corps, the military's version of detective, prosecutor and defense attorney. The series is scheduled to return as a midseason replacement, but jumps from NBC to CBS.
Q: Has Shaquille O'Neal ever played in any movies?
A: The NBA superstar, who'll play on the 1996 U.S. Olympic basketball Dream Team, made his movie debut in 1994's "Blue Chips" with Nick Nolte. Next he plays a genie in "Kazaam," directed by Paul Michael Glaser ("Starsky & Hutch"). Earlier this month, Shaq hosted the kid's anthology series "Sports Theater" on Nickelodeon.
