Seattle Times Staff Wins 25 Awards In Competition

PORTLAND - Winners of the annual Society of Professional Journalists "Excellence in Journalism" regional competition were announced yesterday.

Reporters, photographers and artists from The Seattle Times won a total of 25 awards: Nine first-place, 11 second-place and five third-place awards, and nine honorable mentions. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer staff received 14 awards: One first-place, two second-place and four third-place awards and seven honorable mentions.

More than 2,000 entries were submitted by newspapers and radio and television stations throughout the region, which includes Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana.
