Redmond Student's Death Cancels Accident Drill

REDMOND - A car-accident drill that was to be held today at Redmond High School was canceled as students dealt with the traffic death of a popular graduate.

Adam Exstrom, who graduated last year, was killed Sunday after he drove off Novelty Hill Road and was thrown from his Jeep. Students yesterday took flowers to the site to pay tribute to the former Redmond High student.

"There was a lot of sadness today at the school," said a Lake Washington School District spokesman.

The Redmond Fire Department yesterday issued a plea for everyone to use seat belts. Exstrom's accident could have resulted only in injuries had he been strapped in, officials said.

A memorial service for Exstrom will be at noon Friday at St. Jude's Church in Redmond.
