Tacoma Pud Intern, 2 Others Arrested In Equipment Theft
TACOMA - A former Tacoma Public Utilities intern and two friends have been arrested in the theft of nearly $90,000 worth of equipment from the company in the past six months.
The 17-year-old intern and two Tacoma men, ages 20 and 21, were arrested Saturday. The teen and the 21-year-old served with the Tacoma Police Department's Explorer post, a branch of the Boy Scouts. The two sometimes used a Police Department van to transport stolen items from the PUD to their homes, police allege.
Police have recovered almost all of the stolen items, from vehicles to computers to cell phones.
Yesterday, Anthony Fay, 21, and Anthony Romero, 20, were arraigned in Pierce County Superior Court on charges of theft and burglary. Charges are pending against the 17-year-old.
