NFL -- Adidas Shoe Contract Fits Johnson
PORTLAND - Adidas America Inc. has signed potential top NFL draft pick Keyshawn Johnson to a contract to endorse shoes that won't be officially licensed by the league.
The multiyear contract, announced yesterday, is worth more than $150,000 a year to Johnson, a USC All-America receiver.
But beginning this season, the NFL will outlaw the display of shoe logos other than its official footwear licensees, Nike Inc. and Reebok International Ltd. Violators can be fined $10,000, an NFL spokesman said.
