Microsoft To Acquire Maker Of Popular `Flight Simulator'

SEATTLE - Microsoft Corp.'s consumer division plans to acquire Bruce Artwick Organization, the creator of the popular Microsoft "Flight Simulator" entertainment software, a company spokeswoman said.

Terms were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, most of the approximately 30 employees of the Bruce Artwick group would relocate from Champaign, Ill., to Microsoft offices in Redmond, said Sue Barnes, a Microsoft spokeswoman. Bruce Artwick himself would not become a Microsoft employee but would continue to consult for the company.

Microsoft said "Flight Simulator" is the most successful entertainment title for personal computers, with more than 3 million copies sold.
