Upn Adds `Minor Adjustments'
There is life after NBC.
Just ask the folks behind the sitcom "Minor Adjustments," which was recently canceled by the Peacock network, just a couple of months into its first season. Well, this time cancellation didn't mean never-ever again. The show has been given a second life by the fledgling UPN network. Starting Jan. 23, the show will air Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m.
The sitcom, which stars comic Rondell Sheridan as a psychologist struggling with his roles at home as a father and husband, will resume production of new episodes in January. Those shows will be held for a while because UPN will first air the seven shows that were made for NBC (six of which aired).
NBC launched the series this fall on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. However, it was often bumped when the network's coverage of football ran long, resulting in less than spectacular ratings.
Meanwhile, UPN has also picked up "Moesha," a sitcom starring singer Brandy Norwood that actually was developed for CBS last year. It will debut Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. Norwood, a teen music sensation, plays a 16-year-old dealing with the pressures of growing up in the '90s.
The series' debut will force the departure of "Deadly Games," an hour drama airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Also ending production is the newsroom-based "Live Shot," which will stay on until a replacement is named.
UPN offers shows for Monday and Tuesday nights. It's expanding to Wednesdays in March.
In another programming move, Buena Vista's "Stephanie Miller Show," shown here at 12:05 a.m. weeknights on KOMO-TV, has been canceled - a week after the syndicator said it had no plans to do so. Danny Bonaduce will serve as the guest host this week, the final week of the show.
After this week's shows, BVTV will offer stations repeats of the canceled program through Jan. 20.
