Greenbaum Furnishings Plans To Close Three Stores
BELLEVUE - Greenbaum Home Furnishings, a family-owned company in business here since 1959, will close three of its four stores in the area in January and consolidate business in its Bellevue headquarters store.
The stores in Tukwila, Tacoma and Lynnwood will close, but the company's Clearance Center in downtown Bellevue will remain in operation, as will its Woodinville Service Center.
Owner Ken Greenbaum said about half of his 93 employees will have to be cut. "It's tough; we feel bad about it. Some of these people have been longtime loyal employees, but we have to do our `right-sizing.' "
His company had sales of $20 million last year, but he said the figure would be lower for 1995 as business trends change.
