Northwest -- UW Men Capture UCLA Soccer Title

LOS ANGELES - The University of Washington men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with second-ranked UCLA yesterday to win the Bruins' Met Life Classic Tournament.

Washington trailed 1-0 after the Bruins (14-2-1) scored 12:59 into the game. It stayed that way until Washington's Chris Wolff knotted the score with a header into the net off a Joel Hurd cross with less than six minutes left to play. Both defenses held strong in the 30 minutes of overtime.

The Huskies (10-3-4) will seek a berth in the MPSF playoffs Wednesday when they travel to Oregon State for their final league game. A win or tie will give the Huskies second place in the Mountain Division and a rematch with the Bruins in the playoffs Nov. 10.
