Colin Powell's Wife Says Running For President May Be Dangerous
NEW YORK - Colin Powell's wife says it would be dangerous for him to run for president because a black candidate would probably become a target for "crazy people."
Does she want him to run? No.
"He would probably be at much more risk than any other candidate because of being a black man in this society. A lot of crazy people out there," Alma Powell says in an appearance with her husband on the ABC News "20/20" television program that airs next Friday.
But if Powell decides to go for it, "I will adjust," she said.
Powell, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said his wife has a 50 percent say in family decisions, although "in Alma's case, it's probably 51."
