Weyerhaeuser Division Buys Oregon Lumber Company
FEDERAL WAY - Northwest Hardwoods, a division of Weyerhaeuser Co., is acquiring Diamond Wood Products, a privately owned hardwood lumber company with operations in Eugene, Garibaldi and Coos Bay, Ore.
No purchase price was disclosed for the deal, which will be effective Sept. 29.
Included are two sawmills that produce about 85 million board feet of lumber, a chip manufacturing plant and about 9,000 acres of Oregon timberland.
About 300 people employed by Diamond are being offered jobs with Weyerhaeuser, said spokesman Frank Mendizabal.
