Kids' Unicef Card Contest To Start

SEATTLE - Beginning Friday, youngsters 13 and under will have a chance to design a Christmas card sold around the world.

That's the date the fourth annual UNICEF "Kids Help Kids" greeting-card contest opens. This year's theme is "We are different; we are the same," according to the United Nations Children's Fund, which raised $10 million in the United States last year selling greeting cards to benefit its educational and health programs.

The two winners - one for ages 8 to 13, another for age 7 and under - will have their cards reproduced among the agency's dozens of offerings of art cards from around the world.

Contest entry forms for the holiday season cards will be available locally at Pier 1 Imports stores, one of the sponsors, on Friday. More than 4,000 youngsters nationwide entered the contest last year.
