Melting the ice: Dorothy Hamill and Ken Forsythe have separated after eight years of marriage. The National Enquirer says Ken admitted to having a thing with an Ice Capades skater (and former understudy to Dorothy) and to a six-year affair with another woman.

Don Johnson is getting over Melanie Griffith with someone named Carrie Whitman. They were spotted at the Mike Tyson thing in Las Vegas.

Larry King is seeing Suzanne Childs, spokeswoman for the L.A. D.A.'s office. You may have heard her name in conjunction with the Rodney King, O.J., Menendez brothers and Michael Jackson cases.

And according to some nude photos in Britain's News of the World, Richard Gere has at least a nodding acquaintance with a Swedish waitress called Stina Norbye, a student of Chinese medicine and herbology. She must have missed the lesson on fig leaves.

Something in common: David Hasselhoff and John Tesh weather critics' disdain for their work even as their fans fawn. John says David made him an offer: "He said, `John, why don't you come on `Baywatch' and perform a song? If folks are going to hate you, you might as well be hated in style.' "

-- The new People says Patty Smyth and John McEnroe are expecting and that Patty may put her singing career on hold until after the stork calls next year. John has three children by Tatum O'Neal and Patty has a daughter with ex-punk rocker Richard Hell.

-- Katie Couric and husband Jay Monahan are expecting their second child in early January. They have a 4-year-old daughter.

-- Sad news: The daughter of Motley Crue's lead singer Vince Neil died last week of stomach cancer. Skylar was 4.

Hugh Hefner wants you to know there's no truth to those vicious rumors that he's moving out of the Playboy mansion, his home for 20 years. Daddy Hef denies that he wanted to raise his sons, 3 and 5, in a different environment. He says the mansion's "a wonderful place to grow up. I know - because I grew up here." As if.

And while we're talking Playboy - we'd offer this as a warning, but you folks who buy the pay channel probably will think it's just spiffy: Beginning Friday Playboy TV will have an interactive show called "Night Calls." And what is interactive about it? We were afraid you'd ask. According to the press release, it offers viewers "the chance to explore their own fantasies by seeing just how far their suggestions will take two gorgeous and spontaneous female hostesses." Sounds like one of those 900 number but with pictures. Naughty, naughty. Right off the bat, there are a couple problems (no, not those problems): It's on at 7 p.m. out here on the West Coast - a bit early to send the dog to bed. And the show's going to have "celebrity callers." First up is Kato Kaelin. Need we say more?
