Alamo Car Rental Follows Rival With Price Increase
NEW YORK - Taking its cue from Hertz Corp., Alamo Rent A Car announced yesterday it will also raise prices on all vehicle rentals by $5 a day in the United States.
The move by the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based agency comes one day after Hertz, the world's largest rental-car company, said it would raise its rates.
Hertz said the $5 increase will affect daily, weekly, weekend and monthly rates for all cars nationwide. In Orlando, Fla., for example, it will now cost $43 a day, or $200 a week, to rent a mid-sized car, compared with $38, or $165 a week, previously.
Alamo also said the price increases would affect all car rates across the country.
