Outage Hits Kitsap County

BREMERTON - Police and fire communications to most of the south end of Kitsap County were knocked out for more than an hour last night when two Puget Sound Power and Light substations were shut down by a break in a transmission line.

The outage knocked out power to the Kitsap Central Communications transmitter on Gold Mountain that serves most police and fire departments south of Bremerton, a spokesman said.

A total of about 8,000 customers were without power from about 7:45 to almost 9 p.m., she said.
