Weathered Wall's Back In Action

Nightclubs. They come, they go, they come back again. The Weathered Wall is back.

The Fifth Avenue nightclub, always one of the most interesting niteries in town, has changed hands and is once again open for business. The club has been cleaned up, repainted and repaired, and has been adding nights of live and recorded music.

The Third Floor, a cozy baroque space where you can watch the Monorail go by at eye level, opens tomorrow night with DJ-controlled dancing. Downstairs, the Fallouts, deflowers and Vatican 3 will play.

The Weathered Wall will feature live music Wednesdays and Thursdays, with disco on Saturdays. For more info, call 728-9398. -- El Lobo Loco, in Pioneer Square, is now presenting live and recorded music. Tonight Suckface and Sea of Black play. The club also has music Wednesdays and Thursdays. For more info call 343-7227. -- Black Citroen, 513 36th Ave. N. in Fremont, also continues to present live music. Amy Denio and Living Daylights will be whipping it out tomorrow. -- The Shark Club is arguably the hippest night spot in Kirkland right now with wall-to-wall boys and girls on any given night, and pool tables upstairs, downstairs and outside for that alfresco eight-ball action.

Last weekend the Shark initiated live music on Friday and Saturday nights with the Beatniks and the Groove respectively, and attendees were literally lined up out the door. This weekend, music will be supplied by the Beaters tonight and Andy O tomorrow. Info: 803-3003. -- It's the Battle of the Bands in Outer Space. The Ballard Firehouse has joined with clubs in Boston, Albany and Cleveland for a cross-county, knockdown musical drag-out. The contest, hosted by IRS Records and Labatts, begins Thursday with the Supersonic Soul Pimps, Silly Rabbit and Apollo Creed competing.

Eventually, after elimination rounds, the survivors in all four cities will compete via satellite feed, with audiences in each city getting to watch the finalists via big-screen broadcast.

Sound complicated? You bet. But all you need to know for now is to be at the Firehouse at 8 p.m. next Thursday. Science will take care of the rest. Also: Randy Hansen will be in the 'house Sunday.

-- Everclear, whose single "Heroin Girl" is much requested on The End, plays the King Theater tomorrow. Muzzle and Dandy Warhols share the bill. All ages.

-- Nitzer Ebb, purveyors of industrial-strength dance madness, have a new album, "Big Hit," and a new tour that brings the band to RKCNDY Tuesday. $15 advance through the big TM.

-- After too long a time away, Inflatable Soule returns to the night life tonight with a show at the fabulous Fenix (above ground). This will be the band's only Seattle club gig this summer, so hurry on down.

-- Tonight at Moe it's the sexy, scintillating sounds of the Nightcaps. The music room is being transformed into an intimate setting with table service and room for dancing cheek to cheek.

-- In Ballardland, the acclaimed folk band BeauSoleil plays tonight at the Backstage. Wednesday the wonderful Subdudes will be at the club. Tonight at the Tractor Tavern, where the Picketts kicked up quite a storm last Friday, there's a Hank Williams tribute. Boxing Ghandis rides the Tractor Thursday.

-- Rob Morgan and his Squirrels are at the Off Ramp tonight with the Rockinghams, Primate 5 and the Queen Annes. Tuesday it's another of those "D Spot" extravaganzas with Diamond Star Halo, Motorland, Flake, Give, the Stains, Wanda, the Same and Painted Sun. Still $3. Wednesday, Boston's Dirt Merchants.

-- The Crocodile Cafe will have a live CD recording party Monday with the Fastbacks, the Presidents of the United States of America and Chix Dig It. Tonight, Pell Mell and Jessamine, and tomorrow Yo La Tango.
