King County Judge Otero To Retire
SEATTLE - King County Superior Court Judge Carmen Otero, the first Hispanic to serve as a jurist in this state, is retiring June 30, after 15 years on the bench.
Otero, 62, served as a Northeast District Court judge before she was appointed to Superior Court in 1980 by the late former Gov. Dixy Lee Ray.
Otero also served on the state Minority and Justice Task Force and on the former state Commission on Mexican-American Affairs.
Gov. Mike Lowry will appoint her replacement.
