Prep Baseball -- Metro Stars Face Seamount
Ballard shortstop Kevin Miller is expected to lead the Metro League's top senior baseball players against the Seamount League's elite in an all-star doubleheader tomorrow at Liberty High School.
Miller, a University of Washington signee, was selected in the seventh round by the Baltimore Orioles in yesterday's amateur draft.
Tomorrow's first game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The doubleheader - two eight inning games - will be used to help decide a roster for next week's all-state series in East Wenatchee. Metro and Seamount coaches nominate 10 players to the all-state organizers, who will then select about seven or eight for participation, Seattle Prep Coach Ed Paulter said.
Nominations will be based on a player's performance in the feeder games as well as during the season.
O'Dea Coach Mark Zender and Ballard Coach Tam Hutchinson will coach the Metro team comprised of 25 league seniors.
Seattle Prep, a Class AA state semifinalist, will send seven players to tomorrow's games. Metro champion O'Dea sends six.
