Maxwell House To Cut Price Of Coffee By 30 Cents A Pound

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Maxwell House Coffee Co., a division of Kraft Foods, said today it is reducing its ground-coffee prices by 30 cents a pound.

The new prices, effective next Monday, represent the second recent reduction by Maxwell House. In November, the company lowered its coffee prices by 10 cents a pound.

Maxwell House also is reducing the prices of some of its instant coffees by 2 cents to 4 1/2 cents an ounce.

The cuts are in response to declining prices of unroasted coffee beans in world markets, Maxwell House said. It said the price reduction does not apply to some of its specialty coffees.
