Boy, 2, Killed In Apartment Fire
LACEY - A 2-year-old boy was killed yesterday in an apartment-house fire that injured at least three others and forced about 36 people from their homes.
Fire District 3 officials identified the dead boy as Nolan Dapron, son of Andrew and Ellissa Dapron. The boy's parents and his 5-month-old brother, Caleb, were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia.
One firefighter suffered minor burns on one hand and was treated at the scene.
The fire at the Prairie Pines Apartments was reported at 9:30 a.m. It went to two alarms and burned for several hours. The heat was so intense it melted the face masks on the helmets of two firefighters.
Fire Chief James Broman says the fire may have started in a couch. Four of the 10 units in the building burned and other apartments suffered water damage.
