Washington Mutual Assumes New Holding-Company Name

SEATTLE - Washington Mutual Savings Bank is no more, at least under that name.

The company has reorganized under a holding-company format to give it greater flexibility to manage capital and to expand and diversify business operations and sources of revenue, Chairman Kerry Killinger said.

The parent company will be known as Washington Mutual Inc. The savings bank - the parent's principal subsidiary - was renamed Washington Mutual Bank. All stock trading symbols will remain the

same.
