MACADAMIA-NUT TURKEY STUFFING Enough stuffing for a 12-pound turkey
8 cups bread cubes
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup chopped onion
1 medium clove garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped celery leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried sage, crushed
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 (3 1/2-ounce jar) macadamia nuts, chopped
1/4 to 1/2 cup chicken broth
1. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Melt the butter in a skillet; saute the onion, garlic, celery and celery leaves 10 minutes.
2. Add the sauteed vegetables to the bread cubes and toss with the sage, thyme, salt, pepper and nuts. If the stuffing seems very dry, add broth to moisten slightly.
3. Cool the stuffing before putting into the turkey. Place the excess in a buttered casserole dish and refrigerate until ready to bake. Bake in a preheated 325-degree oven 45-60 minutes.
