Man Charged In Two Deaths
PORT ORCHARD - Prosecutors have 30 days to decide whether to seek the death penalty against Steven Morgan, charged with aggravated murder in the stabbing deaths of a woman and her 4-year-old daughter during a cocaine theft.
Morgan, 36, pleaded not guilty yesterday in Kitsap County Superior Court to two counts of murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of cocaine possession. He is being held in jail without bail; trial is set for Dec. 14.
Documents filed by Kitsap County Prosecutor Danny Clem said Morgan went to the home of Kelly Uhl, 33, to steal crack cocaine Sunday morning. Investigators found residue from the illegal drug and paraphernalia for using it. Uhl and her daughter, Melissa Uhl, died of multiple stab wounds. The woman's two older children, a 10-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, were being treated at Harborview Medical Center.
