Army Reservist From Everett Killed In Helicopter Accident

EVERETT - An Army Reserve technician killed in an on-the-ground helicopter accident in central Idaho has been identified as John C. King, 30, of Everett.

A Chinook helicopter from Paine Field in Everett rolled over Friday as it prepared to pick up Forest Service firefighters in the Payette National Forest, 22 miles east of McCall. Five people, including King, were aboard.

King was a flight engineer, as is Brian Ross, 30, from Monroe. He received cuts and bruises.

Army Reserve pilot Brett Radford from Federal Way and co-pilot Gerry Curtis from Tacoma were examined and released.

Treated and released was Jack Finley from the National Park Service in Florida.

An investigation team will determine the cause of the accident.
