Getting To The Bite

Parking at Seattle Center during festivals like the Bite of Seattle is always difficult, but those who car-pool qualify for discounts at Seattle Center lots and garages. Metro helps out this weekend with special shuttle bus service, and there are other public transportation options, too.

Shuttle buses

Metro will provide special shuttle service tomorrow and Sunday from the Pike Place Market and Northgate Park & Ride Lot. Normal routes only will operate today.

One shuttle will link the Northgate Park & Ride Lot, the Northgate Transit Center and Seattle Center. Passengers can pay 85 cents each way, buy an All-Day Pass from the driver for $1.70 or use a Metro bus pass. The shuttle will operate every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and every 30 minutes from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, the shuttle will operate every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and every 30 minutes from 7 to 8 p.m. The last bus leaves Mercer Street at the Seattle Center Playhouse at 11 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The Northgate shuttle will pick up passengers at the Northgate Park & Ride Lot, the transit center, North 105th Street and Aurora Avenue North, North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North, and North 46th Street and Aurora Avenue North.

The Pike Place Market shuttle will run every 10 minutes from 10:40 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for 50 cents each way. Buses make regular stops along the routes, traveling north on First Avenue from Marion

Street to Mercer Street. They will return to downtown from Mercer Street by way of Fifth Avenue North, Cedar Street and Second Avenue.

Other buses

Metro will provide regular bus service to the Seattle Center on 12 routes. Direct service to the Bite on routes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 24, and 33. The cost is 85 cents each way or an All-Day Pass can be purchased from the driver for $1.70.

Monorail

The Monorail will run from Westlake Mall (Fifth Avenue and Pine Street) to the Seattle Center from 9 a.m. to midnight every day. One-way fare is 90 cents for adults, 70 cents for children 5 to 12, and 35 cents for seniors (65 and older) and disabled persons. Children 4 and under ride for free.

Parking

A discount on parking is available at Seattle Center parking facilities all three days to those who car-pool. Rates are: $7 for driver only; $6 for driver and passenger, and $5 for three or more. Consider Highway 99 or Elliott Avenue as alternative routes to save time.

Parking for the disabled is available at the Seattle Center Parking Garage, between Mercer and Roy Streets. Enter at Third Avenue North and at Seattle Center lots 1 and 2 on the east side and 3 and 4 on the west side. If a lot is marked full, check with the attendant for availability.

Parking for the disabled is free this year. All Seattle Center buildings allow access for disabled people.
