Campbell's Ashes, Belongings Turned Over To Girlfriend, Son
WALLA WALLA - The cremated remains of triple killer Charles Rodman Campbell were turned over to his girlfriend and their son, officials said yesterday.
When no one claimed the remains, Walla Walla County had the hanged man's body cremated, then turned the ashes over to Judith Dirks on Tuesday as Campbell had specified, Walla Walla County Coroner Stephen Ames said.
None of Campbell's organs was removed for research or donation programs, Ames said.
Campbell's personal belongings were also turned over to Dirks, state Corrections Department spokesman Veltry Johnson said.
Campbell, 39, was hanged last week for the 1982 convictions of murdering two women and a child. The women had testified against him in a sexual-assault trial.
