Stinson Named Mvp -- Crusader Pitcher Picked As Metro's Best
Eastside Catholic pitcher Kevin Stinson, son of former Seattle Mariner Bob Stinson, has been voted the Most Valuable Player of the Metro League for 1994.
Stinson, who had a 7-1 record, led the Crusaders to a Class AA regional appearance. He edged teammate Ryan Powell, the 1992 MVP, and last year's runner-up, Alan Patrick of Ballard.
Tam Hutchinson was named the Coach of the Year, after guiding the Ballard Beavers to their first regional appearance in his six-year tenure.
Ballard, which was eliminated from the Class AA Region I playoffs last Saturday, led the Metro with four players selected to the first team - Patrick at catcher; pitcher Andy Halon, who had an 8-3 record; outfielder Kevin Miller; and infielder Keven Wynkoop, who led the league in hitting with a .571 average and made the team as a designated hitter.
Seattle Prep, Eastside Catholic and O'Dea each had three players on the first team.
Seattle Prep's Mike Detrick and O'Dea's Nick Stefonick were voted to the first team at two positions. Detrick made the team as a pitcher (7-0) and catcher. Stefonick is a pitcher (5-1) and outfielder.

Ballard's Al Lowe was voted Metro League Coach of the Year after guiding the Beavers to a 13-8 record and league tournament berth.
Metro batting champion Alyssa Kopf of Seattle Prep, who has a .677 average, was selected as an outfielder, along with Panther pitcher Shannon Swicke, who batted .561.
