Oberto To Purchase Lowrey's, Smoke Craft Snack Brands

KENT - Oh Boy! Oberto Sausage Co. said it will purchase the Albany, Ore.-based Smoke Craft and Lowrey's meat snack brands and facilities from its competitor, Curtice Burns, to double its share of the beef jerky market.

The acquisition is a critical first step in an effort to become the No. 1 meat snack company in the country, said Laura Oberto, company president.

The acquisition adds 200 employees and nearly $35 million in annual sales to the family-owned business founded in Seattle in

1918.
