Former Treasurer Of Seattle To Head Regional Fema Office
SEATTLE - Former Seattle city Treasurer Lloyd Hara has been named director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's regional office in Bothell.
FEMA Director James Lee Witt said as head of FEMA's Region 10 office, Hara will be responsible for administering a variety of federal emergency-preparedness, mitigation and disaster-recovery activities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Hara replaces acting Regional Director Raymond Williams, who will resume his position as regional deputy director.
Hara, 54, served 12 years as city treasurer until 1991, when Seattle voters approved a proposal by Mayor Norm Rice to abolish the elective positions of city treasurer and comptroller in favor of a new finance department.
Hara was King County auditor from 1969 to 1978.
