Fremont Man To Be Arraigned In Fatal Shooting Over Car Alarm
A Fremont man will be arraigned tomorrow in King County Superior Court for allegedly killing another man over a blaring car alarm.
Prosecutors yesterday filed second-degree murder charges against Terrance M. Hall, who lives in a trailer parked along a Fremont street, saying he shot Steven A. Burgess, 21, in the chest late Wednesday night.
Burgess and his friends, all in their early 20s, were trying to turn off the alarm of a rented Jeep when Hall allegedly walked out of his trailer with a .38 Derringer in his hand, according to prosecutors.
Hall screamed at Burgess and his friends to stop the noise. When Burgess tried to open the hood to see if he could disconnect the alarm, Hall, 57, allegedly fired a bullet into the grill, deputy prosecutor Ted Reischling wrote in charging papers.
Burgess pushed Hall away from the car, but the Fremont man allegedly approached again and fired a bullet from close range into Burgess' chest. Hall allegedly continued to demand the alarm be turned off and said, "your friend is dying."
Burgess died a few hours later in Harborview Medical Center.
Seattle Police searched Hall's trailer and found a .38 Derringer and ammunition.
Burgess and his friends had gone to Fremont to enjoy an area tavern and were driving the rented Jeep because they expected poor driving conditions. Seattle streets still had patches of snow and ice after last week's snowstorm.
Burgess had been attending computer school in Tukwila.
