`Incredible Universe' To Land In Auburn Mall

AUBURN - The Supermall of the Great Northwest will house the Tandy Corp.'s "Incredible Universe" superstore, which could be the largest electronics store in the country, mall officials said.

Tandy operates three such stores, one in Portland and the other two in Dallas and Arlington, Texas.

Mall officials have asked city planners for permission to open the 187,000-square-foot store by October 1994, while the rest of the mall remains under construction.

Jeff Kiser, Supermall project director, told the city's Planning and Community Development Committee that the mall is to open in spring 1995, more than a year behind schedule.

The planning committee unanimously approved a temporary measure to allow the mall's parent company to open the Tandy store next October. The council will take a final vote on the measure Dec. 6.
