Here Are Some Special Gifts For Pet Owners

Thanksgiv ing's still ahead but it's not too early to order Christmas gifts for that pet owner with everything.

Bent on helping you through this psychological quagmire and away from crowds, here's a list of the new and unusual I've gleaned from catalogs and spotted at local shows.

Fuzzy Faces (868-5169), owned by Deborah and Kelly Burton of Redmond, specializes in custom appliques on sweatshirts of 30 breeds, with most selections in Scottish terriers and Rottweilers. These are priced $40-$45. Jewelry in 76 breeds include pins for $6, tie tacks $7 and earrings $9.

Fuzzy Faces also sells superbly crafted chain-saw carvings of adult dogs and puppies in many breeds. Fashioned by Dennis Sullivan of Grangeville, Idaho, these are $60 for adult dogs in a standing pose and $62 for the puppies curled up on a rug. The carvings must be ordered immediately to assure delivery before Christmas.

Fantasy Enterprises of Snohomish (334-0101), operated by Roy Tellef and Madeleine Boucher, specializes in sand-blasted glassware such as suncatchers, bookends, napkin and letterholders, boxes, hand-painted wood animals, plaques, clocks and leash hangers.

All can be fashioned in any dog or cat breed, says Boucher. Most items are priced $10-$15. Many are inset in oak, complementing the colorful glass.

Both companies will have dozens of items for sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend at a two-day American Kennel Club-sanctioned dog show at the Evergreen Fairgrounds in Monroe.
