Golf's Robert Ihlanfeldt Dies

Robert Ihlanfeldt, a former official with the U.S. Golf Association, died yesterday after a lenghty illness.

Mr. Ihlanfeldt, 66, was the husband of Edean Ihlanfeldt, a noted local amateur golfer and the former coach of the University of Washington women's golf team.

In addition being a past president of the Broadmoor and Inglewood Country Clubs, Mr. Ihlandfeldt served on several U.S. Golf Association committees, including a stint on the USGA's Greens Section Committee (1979-85). The Greens Section provides turf information and advice to golf course operators.

Mr. Ihlanfeldt was chairman of the USGA host committee when Edean won the U.S. Senior Women's Championship in Seattle in 1984.

Other survivors are a brother, Bill; sisters Ruth Lee and Barbara LeClair; son Steven and his wife, Carol; daughter Sue Nylin, and four granchildren. Services for the Ballard High and UW graduate will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 14514 20th Ave. N.E., at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
