Siemens To Proceed With Issaquah Headquarters

ISSAQUAH - Siemens Medical Systems, as expected, said it plans to build a $20 million headquarters in Issaquah, starting July 20.

The project will be the first of several buildings planned for Vyzis Co.'s Sammamish Park Place complex, an office park on the northern edge of Issaquah near Lake Sammamish.

The subsidiary of German electronics giant Siemens AG bought eight of 20 buildable acres on Vyzis' site for its project. It picked Vyzis' property over a Trammell Crow site next to its current Issaquah offices. The prime contractor will be Seattle's Baugh Construction.

Siemens has said it plans to consolidate its worldwide ultrasound operations in Issaquah. The company currently employs about 450 people but has said it could employ 1,000 by the end of the decade.

The project is expected to be built in two phases. The July groundbreaking will be for the first, 130,000-square-foot building.
