Twelve-Unit Low-Income Housing Project Opens

RAINIER VALLEY

A new 12-unit affordable family housing project has opened in Rainier Valley, with the completion of the Byron-Wetmore Apartments, 3300-3308 Wetmore Ave. S.

The $1.1 million project is the second involving two nonprofit groups, the Capitol Hill Housing Improvement Program (CHHIP) as the owner and developer and South East Effective Development (SEED) as the community sponsor. They previously cooperated on the Gale Place Apartments at 3333 Gale Place S.

Financing was provided by Seafirst Bank and equity investment by the National Equity Fund, which has pooled contributions from The Boeing Co. and Washington Mutual. Public money came from the City of Seattle and the Washington State Housing Assistance Program.

Both the new Byron-Wetmore and the Gale are being managed by

residents.
