3 Men Plead Guilty To Killing Man, Sons

Three men accused of killing a man and his three young sons at Fort Lewis last December pleaded guilty yesterday to murder charges. Two were immediately sentenced to life in prison.

Damien Loren Jackson, 21, Gregory Clifford Paige, 25, and James Dominique Mayfield, 24, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder charges before U.S. District Judge Robert Bryan, the U.S. attorney's office said.

The three had been charged in the Dec. 4, 1992, deaths of Allen Lamarr King Sr., 25, his stepson, James Anthony Gillard, 7, and his sons, Allen Lamarr King Jr., 4, and Dominique Alexander King, 18 months.

Jackson and Paige also pleaded guilty to charges of cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

At their request, Bryan sentenced Jackson and Paige immediately to life in prison without parole on the murder counts and 10 years on the cocaine charges.

Mayfield will be sentenced July 21.

The four mutilated bodies were found at the family's Fort Lewis duplex by a neighbor.

King's wife, Lisa, worked for the 29th Signal Battalion at Fort Lewis and was on a tour of duty in Korea at the time of the slayings. King and his wife met in high school in Toledo, Ohio, and had intended to move back there, relatives said after the slayings.

Autopsies indicated that King and two of the boys had been beaten, hacked and stabbed. The youngest child died from multiple blows from a blunt object.

According to court documents, Paige and Jackson believed Allen King Sr. was an informant responsible for their November 1992 arrest on cocaine charges. While in jail and afterward, they told several people they would "get the snitch."
