Squire Shop Chain To Close Its Doors

SEATTLE

The Squire Shops, which filed for bankruptcy in January, has been unable to find purchasers for its two retail divisions and will close its doors in April, the company said yesterday.

When it filed for bankruptcy reorganization, the young men's retail chain was operating 35 stores - 23 Squire Shops and 12 Natural Selection stores, which carry clothing for young men and women. About 20 stores remain open.

The chain decided to liquidate its inventory in mid-February and hoped to generate $2.25 million, according to Seafirst, which was owed about $7 million at that time.
