Behring's Son New Seahawk President -- David Behring Takes Key Role In Front Office
KIRKLAND - David Behring, 37, son of Seahawks' majority owner Ken Behring today was named president of the team.
Ken Behring said the main reason the move was made was so that quicker decisions can be made to take advantage of the new NFL free-agent regulations.
Behring termed his son the "owner's representative" and said, "He will have the keys to the money so to speak. . . . We'll be able to make very fast decisions."
Coach Tom Flores will drop the title of president but Ken Behring said he can have it back if he ever decides to quit coaching.
"If Tom ever decides he's got enough (championship) rings he can have the title of president."
David Behring has served the past three years as executive vice president of Blackhawk Corp. in California. He is a graduate of Princeton and earned a law degree from the University of Miami.
Behring and his wife, Lisa, live in Danville, Calif., near Oakland. He said he eventually will move to Seattle.
