Seahurst Park Is Fun To Visit

JACKIE TRANTHAM, 11

My family and I went to Seahurst Park on Puget Sound, west of Burien. Seahurst is a really fun place. There are lots of things to do there. You can walk on the beach or wade in the water (even now that it's cold, it's fun!). You can look for crabs in the tidepools or under a rock. You can play games on the grass. You might even see a dolphin!

Seahurst Park has a big nice green lawn, a pretty shore and sparkling water. And if you have little kids, they can play on the playground. You can fly a kite.

Seahurst Park is west of Ambaum Boulevard at Southwest 130th Street.

Hike to some great waterfalls

JODI LAUTENSCHLAGER, 11

We found a great book called "A Waterfall Lover's Guide to the Pacific Northwest," by Gregory A. Plumb ($12.95, Mountaineer Books).

In the book there are more than 500 spectacular waterfalls in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Well, we went to Wallace Falls, on Highway 2 outside of Gold Bar at Wallace Falls State Park. Wallace River drops 250 feet, making the falls one of the tallest in the North Cascades.

There are spectacular falls and pools; in the summer you can even swim in them.

It's an easy hike most of the family can make. Lots of kids and old people go there, too. There's a loop trail that's about three miles long; it gets steep only at the top.

It's a five-star place to see most times of the year!
