Secretary Of State -- Ralph Munro Is The Only Choice
INCUMBENT Republican Ralph Munro is the obvious choice for secretary of state.
His Democratic opponent is not that Jeane Dixon. This Jeanne Dixon is neither a famous seer nor a candidate to be taken seriously.
The nomination of Dixon, a throw-away candidate for governor in 1988, is a classic case of mistaken name familiarity. She brings no qualifications to the table. The Democratic party was embarrassed by her primary victory.
Munro has served well. As the state's chief elections officer, he pushed through a program that links motor-vehicle and voter registration. Almost 160,000 new voters have signed since the program began in January.
He was a major force behind a one-stop business-license system and developed a program that helps victims of domestic violence maintain their confidentiality.
He also has been a leader in promoting trade and goodwill with foreign countries, particularly Pacific Rim nations.
Munro is more than an easy choice. He is the only choice.
