Few year-round players make it tough to compete in KingCo. Team should win some games this year but is long shot for playoffs.

Scorer must emerge - Issaquah lost two of top three scorers from last season - for team to make playoffs. Could be league's sleeper.

Despite return of second-team all-KingCo pick Sporseen and honorable mentions Chambers and Sagstad, this will be building year for Rebs.

Lake Washington

-- 1991 RECORD - 3-6-2 in KingCo (tied for eighth), 4-7-3 overall. -- HEAD COACH - Dan Bubar, second season. -- TOP RETURNEES - D Nikki Fountain (sr.), F Jessica Ketteridge (jr.), MF/F Lisa Sacco (jr.), D Karen Kowalski (sr.), D Aimee Taylor (jr.), MF Jill Bakken (so.). -- TOP NEWCOMERS - D Anne Childers (sr.), D Sky Ramanauskas (sr.). -- OUTLOOK - Kangaroos return four all-KingCo honorable mentions: Fountain, Ketteridge, Sacco and Bakken. Sacco and Ketteridge were team's leading scorers last season. Should challenge for one of league's six playoff spots.

Mercer Island

-- 1991 RECORD - 10-1-0 in KingCo (second in regular season), 17-2-0 (won KingCo tournament, finished second in state). -- HEAD COACH - Dottie Simpson, eighth year. -- TOP RETURNING PLAYERS - MF Erin Pochman (sr.), D Katie Burdell (sr.), F Lauren Anderson (jr.), D/MF Kim Cary (jr.), MF Amy Hostvedt (jr.), MF Stacey Kubler (jr.), MF/F Karen Schwartz (sr.), MF Amy Weisenburgh (jr.), MF Kelly Halverson (sr.). -- TOP NEWCOMERS - D/MF Lisa Farmer (sr.), MF/D Brooks Holtan (sr.), MF/GK Melissa Parker (jr.), MF Nicole Hazelrigg (jr.), GK Kylee Mycon (so.), D Katherine Cornelius (so.), F Megan Frey (jr.). -- OUTLOOK - Defending league champions graduated two of the league's top three scorers in Dena Dey and Sarah Wolcher, but No. 2 scorer Pochman (36 points) returns along with six more of last season's starters. Islanders will contend for league title again but won't blow out opponents as often.

Newport

They're young but talented. Edwards, a state select player, heads a strong group of premier-league freshman. Look for Knights in playoffs again. Should contend for a state berth.
