Rhodes Scholar? -- Clinton's Grammar No Better Than Quayle's Spelling
I understand that Bill Clinton is a Rhodes scholar, and I am sure he must also be surrounded by educated people. I am at a loss to understand why someone does not help him clean up his grammar.
For instance, he says "I hope you will give Al Gore and I a chance." (Should be Al Gore and me.) He makes this same type of error repeatedly and it really grates on the nerves. I also heard on a radio show that, in writing to one of his correspondents, in referring to capital gains he spelled "capital" with an "o."
Surely if he cannot spell or does not have a command of the English language somebody could help him!
These may seem like trivialities, but not for someone who aspires to the presidency of this great country. Such things are at least as important as whether or not Dan Quayle can spell "potato." - Helen Rhymes, Seattle
