Georgia Brown, Actress Who Made A Mark In `Oliver'

LONDON - Singer and actress Georgia Brown, known in Britain and the United States for her appearance in "Oliver," died at the age of 57.

Ms. Brown died yesterday at Charing Cross Hospital after a brief illness, said producer Midge Mackenzie.

She had flown to London from her home in Hollywood to appear in a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. at the Drury Lane Theater next week.

Born in East London, Ms. Brown began her career as a blues and cabaret singer.

She was best known for her roles on the stage - as pirate Jenny in Brecht's "Threepenny Opera" and as Nancy in Lionel Bart's musical "Oliver!"

In recent years, Ms. Brown had returned to London to star in "42nd Street" and to appear in Stephen Berkoff's "Greek."

Her films included "The Seven Percent Solution."

Ms. Brown is survived by her son, Jonathan. Funeral arrangements were pending.
