Three Bothell High Players Selected For Feeder Series

Three Bothell High players were named to compete in the Crown Division-vs.-Crest Division KingCo Conference all-state feeder series.

Pitcher Dave Dempsey, shortstop Ryan Sowards and outfielder Travis Peterson of the Cougars were selected for the Crown Division roster. They'll be joined by first baseman Chad Bowers of Woodinville, third baseman Jason Graves of Inglemoor and utility player Casey Swingley of Woodinville.

With six selections, Interlake leads all KingCo teams in number of representatives in the all-seniors event.

Pitchers Derek Stepanian and Matt McPoland join Interlake teammates Scott Terhaar (first base), John Wick (second base), Mickey Mounger (third base) and Erik Peterson (shortstop) on the Crest team.

The series will be played as a doubleheader Thursday with eight-inning games starting at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

An indefinite number of players will be selected to play in the all-state series later this month.

Juanita pitchers Tom Evans (Toronto Blue Jays) and Brian Doughty (Seattle Mariners), each of whom was picked yesterday in the June amateur draft, headline the Crown team. Craig Holmes (third base) and Arlo Abbott (second base) of Class AAA state-champion Juanita also will play for the Crown.

Redmond and Lake Washington also had four players selected for the Crown team.
