Recycling/Composting Information 296-4466 (Office can provide a resource guide to recycling centers in King County that accept or buy back recyclables.)
Transfer stations and rural landfills are open seven days a week, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Transfer station hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. except Factoria, which is open 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends. Drop Box and rural landfill Standard Time hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daylight Savings Time hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

--------- RECYCLING. ---------
Residents in unincorporated King County generally have curbside collection of recyclables. King County's recycling line can give information on haulers for unincorporated King County; a list of recycling coordinators in King County cities outside Seattle; recycling sites other than transfer stations, and private yard waste and wood/composting facilities in King County. Call 296-4466.
Acceptable materials:
-- All facilities that accept recycling take aluminum cans, glass jars and bottles, tin cans, newspaper, mixed paper, and cardboard boxes.
-- Plastics are accepted at the Bow Lake Transfer Station, and all the rural landfills and the Cedar Falls drop box. Accepted are the No. 1 (PET bottles such as soft drinks and liquor bottles), and No. 2 (HDPE, plastic bottles, such as milk jugs, detergent and lotion bottles.)
---------------------- YARD WASTE/KING COUNTY. ----------------------
Acceptable materials.
-- Leaves, grass, brush, clippings, prunings and branches under 4 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length. Unacceptable materials.
-- Stumps, lumber, rocks, dirt or sod, demolition debris or plastic.
-- Containers used for transport must be emptied and taken home for disposal or re-use, especially plastic bags.
------------------------------- HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTEMOBILE. -------------------------------
King County has a mobile collections in 24 locations each year throughout King County in areas not served by permanent household hazardous waste collection facilities. Residential hazardous waste is also accepted at no charge at the South Household Hazardous Waste Facilities. (see Seattle above.)
Acceptable materials.
-- Pesticides, oil-base paints, thinners and solvents, hobby chemicals, cleaning products, motor oil (or call 1-800-RECYCLE), latex paints (can be dried out instead.)
Unacceptable materials.
-- Explosives (call Bomb Squad, 911), business wastes.
