Microsoft Appoints Female Vice President

REDMOND

Microsoft has named its second female vice president in the past month.

Susan Boeschen, 47, a nine-year veteran with the Redmond software maker, was named vice president of the consumer division. Boeschen, founder of Microsoft's lab that tests software for ease of use and former head of the entry business unit, was rewarded for Microsoft's strong showings in new entry-level software.

Last month Microsoft promoted Patty Stonesifer to vice president, Microsoft Support.

Also promoted were two key insiders, Jonathan Lazarus, 41, who has been with the company since 1986, and Rob Glaser, 30, who joined Microsoft in 1983.
