B.C. Croatian Church Hit By Three Gasoline Bombs
VANCOUVER, B.C. - Three homemade gasoline bombs were hurled into a Croatian church in Vancouver early yesterday, police said.
The Molotov cocktails were lobbed through a stained-glass window, charring three pews and a carpet, police said. As the terrorists fled they fired several shots from a handgun into the front of the church.
No injuries were reported.
Rev. Jerko Caleta, who lives in the back of the Roman Catholic church, called on parishioners yesterday to pray for those responsible, but wouldn't speculate on motives.
Police said they have no leads.
The incident followed a visit to Vancouver on Friday of Stjepan Mesic, president of the governing party of newly independent Croatia.
Mesic called on Serbia to withdraw from Croatian territory.
