Pot Found Growing In Buried Buses

CASCADIA, Ore. - An elaborate marijuana-growing operation in five buried school buses has been uncovered by Linn County investigators.

Three people were arrested Thursday and a fourth was being sought.

The buses were buried within a half-mile of each other and were below the floors of three separate buildings near Sweet Home and Cascadia, Sheriff Art Martinak said.

Each was a standard school bus designed to carry 40 passengers.

The seats had been removed.

Entranceways had been cut through their roofs, the sheriff said.

In two of the buildings, two buses were buried back-to-back. The fifth bus sat alone beneath the floor of a third building.

James Dalton Keeney, 53, Joyce LaVerne Keeney, 49, and Travis Blaine Harris, 19, all of Cascadia, were charged with conspiracy to cultivate marijuana.
