Imperials Donate Bingo Proceeds To Charities
RENTON
The Imperials Music and Youth Organization Saturday donated bingo proceeds totaling $20,810 to local charities.
The Renton Salvation Army food bank got $14,542 and the Interim Pediatric Care Center in Kent, which helps care for babies with special medical needs, received $6,268.
Imperials is a nonprofit service organization, founded in 1906, that offers music-education programs to more than 1,500 young people throughout King County. The donated money was earned by Imperials Bingo, 2117 Maple Valley Highway.
About 80 percent of Imperials' operating money comes from its bingo operation, said Brenda Brotherton, Imperials development director.
"Without bingo, we couldn't do what we do," said Brotherton.
Another $6,200 is to be donated to Ryther Child Care Center. Imperials also will make a donation to Easter Seals, Brotherton said. The amount of money raised for Easter Seals has not been tallied yet, she said.
