Teen Slayer Gets Life Plus

OREGON CITY, Ore. - A teenager who cut a Eugene, Ore., woman to death with his pocketknife was sentenced yesterday to life plus 30 months in prison.

Todd Davilla, 16, pleaded guilty in January to murder, attempted rape and first-degree burglary in the August 1991 slaying of Lisa Flormoe, 22.

Clackamas County Circuit Judge Robert Morgan sentenced Davilla to an additional 16 months for the attempted rape and an additional 30 months for the burglary.

Morgan stipulated that the latter two prison terms are to be served only after the life sentence is completed, but may be served together. The intent, said Morgan, is that Davilla is never freed.

"No one can say if he's out that he won't kill again," Morgan said. "He has the heart and empty soul of an assassin."

Morgan ordered that Flormoe's family members be notified in writing if the question of release is ever raised. The victim's mother, Karen Smith, and sister, Lorna Flormoe, vowed to make sure Davilla is never paroled.

Flormoe was attacked while visiting a friend in the Charbonneau area south of Portland.
